President John F. Kennedy taught us to dream, to think bigger than our current situation, and make bold choices. JFK motivated his citizens to do the unthinkable and unimaginable which included going to the moon. All of us can have our own “Moon” experience if we:
1. Set goals- Create big, bold and audacious goals
2. Create deadlines- Ensure a timetable to hold ourselves accountable
3. Make choices- Put ideas into actions
We must create “Goals” that others will think are crazy, insane and out of this world. Because, those are the very ideas that transform and challenge present day society. Think about JFK and his time period, it was the 1960’s, and how crazy of an idea must it have been to think of going to the moon?
We may not be the president of the United States of America, however, we can adapt a similar mindset. Remember, if the goals you set for yourself, your family, or company are “ordinary” they most likely aren’t different, challenging, and transforming.
We must give ourselves a “Deadline,” a timetable to put these ideas into actions. How many people do you know who have the next great idea, invention or patent and how many actually act on it? JFK said by the end of the decade (1969) we would have a man on the moon. And sure enough we did.
We must “Choose to go to the Moon” or it will never happen. The key word here is “Choose,” we are in control of our destiny and we can make things happen if we want them too. If you and I don’t choose a different path it will never happen, we will stay on the course we have created for ourselves and do things the way they have always been done before.
“Choose” to go to the Moon” in 2017 and challenge complacency and comfortability.
Want to not only think outside the box… but SMASH it?
